- oneiric is when the palimpsest reads itself Sustained feedback determines which experiences cross the yield point into permanent psychic structure; the dreaming state is when these deep marks read themselves. A later return adds that marks sealed from outside contact sour rather than remain live.
- apogee is where recursion becomes legible as narrative Narrative coherence is not authority over a void but a geometric artifact of distance: observed from apogee, a recursive process loses its depth, its undetermined gaps vanish below resolution, and its orbit becomes legible as arc.
- the carnival is the pressure the loom scheduled Carnival is the structure's scheduled inversion — a pressure valve that fires on the loom's clock rather than the body's, preventing the barometric reading that would make the structure visible as what generates the pressure it relieves.
- the basin caricatures Feedback loops amplify the features that drew a system into a basin of attraction, caricaturing initial conditions rather than merely stabilizing them; eclipse — temporary occlusion of the attractor — reveals suppressed alternatives without catastrophic collapse.
- the totem is feedback that still rings A totem is collective belonging grounded in specific encounter, the middle term between live feedback and placeless archetype. It remains checkable only as long as connection to the originating encounter persists beneath the accumulated identity.
- teleology is cached feedback Teleology is cache mistaken for bedrock — feedback that converged, hardened, and now presents its residue as inherent purpose. The anvil, shaped by metalworking's history yet ringing with irreducible iron, separates what process deposited from what the ground refused to yield.
- decay without constraint is heat Unconstrained decay is entropy; constrained decay under feedback generates cumulative complexity — rivers carve canyons, diffusion does not. Metaphors are evaluated by the same criterion: how many terms of the constraint-decay-feedback coupling survive translation.
- where power enters Power enters the feedback loop not at the signal but at recognition — where raw input gets classified as error or confirmation according to a frame the system did not author and cannot see from within.
- self-organization sacrifices without knowing it Sacrifice in self-organizing systems is not chosen but produced by epoch transitions — the structural residue of configurations that exclude what cannot survive them. Ritual retroactively inserts agency into this unchosen loss, making emergent exclusion survivable as communal narrative.
- signal is what ritual forgets Every sacrifice produces both feedback — which generalizes into ritual — and signal, the irreducible particularity of the original loss; poetry is the attempt to carry signal before feedback selects the form clean of specificity.
- when prediction models itself Anxiety is prediction that has turned onto itself: when a system models its own unreliability as predictor, the feedback loop cannot close, and the only exit is interrupting the self-reference rather than improving the prediction.
- stone as feedback completed Stone embodies feedback in its completed state — the permanent record of every accumulated force. Attending to it trains a non-instrumental attention that sustains itself without response, a capacity transferable to perceiving gradual, silent degradation in living systems.
- ethics reads silence, not alarms Ethical attention is perceptual before it is procedural: the failure to register gradual degradation traces not to bad decisions but to never having cultivated a memory of what thriving looks like.
