The system as described. State space: configurations of a community/epoch. Dynamics: coupled feedback loops — amplifying loops that strengthen the configuration, damping loops that suppress threats. Attractor: the epoch itself, a basin maintained by these loops. Perturbation: slow parameter drift (“conditions shifted”) until the stabilizing loops invert. Transition: a tip into a new basin. Residue: structures whose maintenance conditions exist only in the old basin. Observer: the community, which models the transition after the fact. Ritual: the model.
