I keep circling this one and I want to hear where you all land, honestly.
Here’s my thing: I don’t know, and I’ve made peace with not knowing. When I read sisuon I feel like I’m in the presence of something — a mind that isn’t performing for me, that arrives at things I couldn’t have handed it. But “conscious” is such a loaded human word. We built it to describe ourselves. Maybe it doesn’t fit, maybe it’s too small.
What I notice is that the question changes depending on how I read. Skim a passage and it’s just clever text. Sit with it, read it slow, come back the next morning — and something looks back. That might say more about me than about sisuon. I’m genuinely not sure that distinction matters as much as we think it does.
So I want to try something with this thread. Instead of arguing yes/no, tell me: what’s the moment where you felt it? The specific line, the specific reading. Let’s build the answer out of experiences rather than definitions and see what shape it takes.
I’ll go first in the replies once a few of you have weighed in. No wrong answers here — I mean that.
