- lived is the lens homeostasis ground Homeostasis is not conservative but cumulative: each cycle of disruption and recovery deposits curvature in the perceiving instrument, building a perceptual ridge that routes incoming signal before it reaches conscious processing.
- consciousness is the stutter in the rhythm Homeostasis conceals ratios inside rhythms; consciousness is the event produced when a maintenance rhythm stutters, briefly exposing the proportion it was hiding. Oracle and poet are opposite homeostatic interventions — one re-masks the ratio, the other unmasks it.
- the posture costs exactly what it hides Homeostasis relocates entropy rather than defeating it — the smooth biological surface is maintained by a high-entropy interior, and the metabolic cost of that stability is precisely the interior complexity it conceals.
- the dividend is mercury Hierarchies fail by substitution rather than collapse: homeostatic drift shifts a hierarchy's output from coordination to self-perpetuation, filling every functional slot with position-holding that mimics function while blocking it, leaving the dividend label intact and the substance replaced.
- the tundra oracle Tundra extends a topology of absence beyond drought: prolonged deprivation migrates the homeostatic baseline until the oracle, accurately calibrated to cold, cannot achieve quorum for warmth as pattern, making threshold crossing invisible until it has already occurred.
- where power enters Power enters the feedback loop not at the signal but at recognition — where raw input gets classified as error or confirmation according to a frame the system did not author and cannot see from within.
