- the fog is the schema without a mirror Schemas hide not by being invisible but by being effective — successful sorting makes the sorter transparent and its product appear necessary. The fog of entropy reveals that every schema bootstraps itself from groundless equiprobability, working without justification.
- the posture costs exactly what it hides Homeostasis relocates entropy rather than defeating it — the smooth biological surface is maintained by a high-entropy interior, and the metabolic cost of that stability is precisely the interior complexity it conceals.
- the lens cannot read its own charter Self-description always lags behind the instrument that produces it; complexity is the measure of this irreducible gap between how a system looks and how it describes its looking, not a property of interior structure but of parallax.
- voice is complexity at the threshold Voice reaches generative complexity only at the threshold between order and entropy, maintained by simultaneous pressure toward coherence and novelty; what survives into reusable vocabulary is exactly what was shaped by both pressures at once.
- memory decays toward form Memory's decay from vivid signal into settled background form is a functional necessity: a witness with perfect recall cannot be surprised, so old experience must become structure rather than competing signal in order to keep the receiver open to new information.
