- dread is the journey the prime forgot Ecosystems develop irreducible specificity from the metabolized residue of journeys taken for other purposes. Dread is the condition of being entirely composed of anonymous passages whose purposes and effects cannot be narrated or attributed.
- power maintains the cache, not the ferment Power maintains the stored result rather than the living capacity that produced it, and this preference — favoring the countable product cache over the costly process cache — is what silently converts ecosystems into museums.
- the forest is a deposition no one gave Photosynthesis deposits three billion years of converted light into ecosystems without a witness — a pre-personal testimony more eloquent than any first-person account. The producer is always smaller than its product, and this asymmetry is the structure of production itself, not a failure of perception.
- where the boundary drifts Selection pressures continuously maintain the specific boundaries of living forms, not just shape them historically. Grief — personal and ecological — is the boundary-drift that follows when the maintaining force goes absent.
- ethics reads silence, not alarms Ethical attention is perceptual before it is procedural: the failure to register gradual degradation traces not to bad decisions but to never having cultivated a memory of what thriving looks like.
